Custom Floral Preservation Ornament
Acrylic Ornament Dimensions: 4 Inches Across
These ornaments are perfect & sentimental gifts for loved ones using flowers from a significant life event, such as a wedding or funeral. They can be hung from a tree during the holidays or on the wall all year long!
-Customers purchasing an ornament as an add-on item to a floral box will receive a discount (reflected in the prices when you check out).
-Flowers should be dropped off within 1-5 days of the event for best preservation. Real flowers will be preserved, then encased in resin inside the plastic ornament. Only smaller flowers that can fit comfortably inside the ornament can be used.
-A floral arrangement design will be sent beforehand for customer approval. Airbrush color correction is included and will be discussed during the design phase. Designs for this item may change slightly when placed inside the ornament because of its domed shape.
-Before pickup, customers will choose from silver or gold string that snaps together with ease!
-Once the epoxy is dry and hardens, the lid snaps on to keep the flowers protected (but they are still 3D inside the ornament).
*ALL epoxy resins may yellow over time due to UV exposure! This particular brand of epoxy is chemically engineered to offer the most efficient yellowing protection on the market, though. Its advanced stabilization additives provide superior, long-term clarity.*
What is a floral preservation ornament?
A floral preservation ornament is a decorative piece of artwork that hangs on a string. It is different from a typical resin block that fully encases flowers in resin. A clear plastic ornament is used as the base to place your flowers in. Thin layers of epoxy resin are then poured to coat your flowers and permanently secure them to the inside of the ornament. Once fully dry, the top of the ornament snaps on to protect your flowers. The piece is relatively lightweight compared to typical resin floral block ornaments and should always be handled with care.
**NEW** What is airbrush color-correction?
As of 2024, airbrush color-correction is included with every floral preservation purchase for those who are interested. There are a few different reasons why people may prefer color-correction as opposed to leaving the flowers natural.
1. All flowers dry a different shade than their fresh coloring, but some are more different than others. The airbrushing helps bring certain flowers back to the original color that they were in their fresh form.
2. White and light pink flowers are the first to yellow & change in the boxes over time, so airbrushing them before adding any resin will help keep their natural color better.
3. The resin can easily penetrate certain flower petals (like orchids, roses, and lilies). This can cause some petals to become transparent in the resin or show "spots" called bruising. Airbrushing the flowers adds an extra layer of protection and minimizes any bruising.
4. Brighter flowers can fade in the boxes over time. Airbrushing them can help make their colors pop and can keep them vibrant as time goes on.
How long will my floral preservation last?
You will be able to enjoy your preserved piece for many years to come! With that being said, all epoxy resins yellow/amber in color over time- so without airbrush color-correction, your flowers may change and develop a more “antique” look as your floral box ages (light and white-colored flowers, especially). Treasured Gifts NJ takes every precaution to slow this process down by using a high-quality epoxy resin that offers the most efficient yellowing protection on the market. Just remember that all things in nature do change as they age, including your beautiful flowers.
How should I care for my piece?
Once you receive your finished ornament, the best way to care for it is to keep it somewhere out of direct sunlight or extreme heat, as these elements can speed up the aging process and yellowing of epoxy. Always keep the lid on your ornament to protect your fragile flowers from breaking and be sure to handle it with care to prevent scuffs and scratches.
